Please introduce yourself and tell us about your story of becoming a business owner.

Meet Dr. Patrice J. Carter, the passionate and driven CEO & President of Breakpoint Coaching Collective, LLC. Patrice and her husband Dalton are nothing short of a dynamic duo who not only share a deep love for each other but also a passion for business. Together, they have embarked on an incredible journey, building Breakpoint Coaching Collective, LLC from the ground up. What sets them apart is not just their commitment to each other, but their ability to seamlessly merge their individual talents and expertise. Dalton, with his creative flair as a videographer and visionary, brings a unique perspective to the table. On the other hand, Patrice shines as an activator and closer. Her innate ability to take action and drive results is unparalleled. She possesses the gift of turning dreams into reality and has a knack for sealing deals that leave clients in awe.

Driven by her desire to empower others, Dr. Carter has become a digital course creation mentor for female life coaches and entrepreneurs alike. With her expertise and unwavering dedication, she is transforming the lives of countless individuals, helping them unlock their full potential, achieve their dreams, and scale their businesses to 5-figures.

Through her relationship with God and her unyielding faith in Him, she made a life-changing decision to clock out of her full-time job 14 years ago. This courageous step allowed her to fully dedicate herself to the cause of marketplace ministry. She started out as a life coach and followed that path for about 6 years, which is when she pursued becoming certified as a Christian life coach. The day after she graduated, sitting at her desk, she was called by the Holy Spirit to train and teach other life coaches. It was at that point she started her school - Breakpoint Coaching Collective, LLC.

𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴.

Within the next 5 years, Patrice didn’t just train these life coaches - she hired them to work with her! As a gift to each life coach she hired, she chose collaboration over competition by helping them establish their own coaching school so they would be equipped to certify and train coaches as well. Helping others form their own school birthed a new ministry & mission for Patrice. She was able to grow to 5 figures with just one e-course and she wanted to help others do the same.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

“.. if I could liken entrepreneurship to anything, it would be a very steep, very fast, crazy rollercoaster ride.”

Being one of the first business owners of her family, Patrice describes herself as being a pathfinder, as she did not have one to follow to become a business owner. She and her twin sister both made their own way to entrepreneurship! Making her own way to where she is today has provided the skills she needs to help other entrepreneurs find their paths as well. This path to CEO has been anything but smooth though, more like a rollercoaster she’d say.

Having high highs and low lows, becoming an entrepreneur is not a straight path & one of the main things Dr. Patrice Carter had to overcome was her mindset. Conquering the fear of lack was step number one. Remember, she left her 9-5 to pursue this calling! The second mindset she had to rid herself of was the 9-5 mentality -that I’m sure all of us entrepreneurs can relate to. Training herself to not feel guilt and anxiety because all she had known was that schedule for so long. Something I think we all struggle with when it comes to this mindset is feeling like we should be doing more each day, so it is so inspiring to hear that she pushed through that mindset and kept building!

“..business is so much greater than just popping up your sign and saying I’m open for business & taking customers. It’s very personal.”

Initially being shy by nature, Dr. Carter overcame the rollercoaster ride to entrepreneurship and became an extrovert! This aids in helping her seek out new clients, which is a must in this field. So, after Patrice adapted to her new -healthy- mindset and stepped out of her comfort zone of being shy, she faced the fear of “asking for money.” You know exactly what she is referring to business owners! As she made reference to being an employee at her previous 9-5, she explained how we are comfortable knowing every pay period we get paid without having to ask. Whereas you must ask for payment when you are the entrepreneur - creating your own checks rather than expecting one on a regular pay period.

For those who may not be familiar with you & your business, what are a few things you would want them to know about you & your business?

One thing to know about Patrice is that she is a finisher & she wants to work with finishers. Rest assured, if she starts something, she will be finishing it. When searching for new clients, that is the personality that you will find her searching for.

“Nobody is going to out-fun me!”

Due to how passionate one can be when it comes to loving what they do, Patrice knows all too well that it can create a sense of burnout. After being so rigid & anal retentive about all things business, she realized her work day was all work & no play - and that needed to change. Lacking good fun in your day-to-day business life can become so draining and cause someone to feel extremely burnt out each day. So she decided fun is what her business life needed and now you can count on some good laughs when working with her because she aims to have fun each day and to be a fun person to be around!

What advice would you give to a young entrepreneur that is just starting out?

“The sky's the limit, so act like it.”

Dr. Patrice J. Carter encourages entrepreneurs to treat the sky as their limit, have the wings they need to fly, but to also have structure and understand the need for self discipline & self mastery.

Patrices’ noticed at a very young age, her bonus son had an eye for art and music. Overall just a very creative person. However, when college enrollment time came around he chose to pursue a degree in engineering rather than choosing a path of creation. Less than halfway through that degree. Patrices’ son came to them and said he no longer wanted to pursue a degree!

Knowing that wasn’t an option, they encouraged him to follow his creative pursuit rather than being influenced by the path that those around him had taken. His family recommended he take entrepreneurship classes so he could do his art and know how to treat it like a business. In doing this, they gave him the wings he needed to fly, and as they expected, he has flourished!

It was such a pleasure to meet and talk with Patrice. I think we all can learn a lot from her path to success, as well as her faith!
